Budget payments in digital rubles to be fee-free for everyone
The Bank of Russia has decided that individuals and companies will pay no fees to the state budget for transactions in their digital ruble accounts. Relevant tariffs will be effective from 1 January 2026.
It is important to note that access to these transactions will be available only to the pilot project participants. After 1 September 2026, major banks will be required to enable everyone to open digital ruble wallets and manage their balances, as well as make budget payments using digital rubles.
As a reminder, the regulator earlier made the decision to extend the fee-free period for all other business transactions with digital rubles until the end of 2026. For individuals, payments and transfers using the digital national currency are free of charge at all times.
