The Troops of Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defence (RChBD) are special forces intended to carry out the most complex tasks aimed at reducing casualties among combined armed units and formations of the Land Forces and ensuring the performance of their combat missions in conditions of radiological, chemical and biological contamination, as well as improving their survivability and protection against high-precision and other weapons.

The main tasks of the RChBD Troops include: identification and assessment of the radiological, chemical and biological situation, the extent and effects of destruction at radiologically-, chemically- and biologically-hazardous facilities; protection of military formations and units against the impacts of mass destruction weapons and radiological, chemical and biological contamination; ensuring the concealment of troops and facilities; disaster recovery at radiologically-, chemically- and biologically-hazardous facilities; and inflicting casualties on the enemy by using flame-incendiary weapons.

The RChBD Troops are developing as dual-purpose forces, capable of accomplishing tasks both in war and peace times, during emergency response operations at radiologically-, chemically- and biologically-hazardous industrial facilities.
