Obverse
in the center — the Emblem of the Bank of Russia (the two-headed eagle designed by I.Bilibin), under it to the right - the mint trademark. The inscriptions along the rim framed by a circle of dots: at the top — «ОДИН РУБЛЬ 1993 г.» (ONE RUBLE 1993), at the bottom — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA).
Reverse
a portrait of A.P. Borodin, to the right - scores, to the left - chemical vessels and a candle, the inscription at the bottom - "А.П. БОРОДИН" (A. P. BORODIN) and under it - the dates "1833-1887".

Alexander Porfiryevich Borodin (1833-1887) - a Russian composer and chemist who achieved outstanding results in both fields. A member of the so-called Mighty Handful, a group of leading Russian composers of the time, he wrote the world-famous opera "Prince Igor" and a number of symphonies, quartets, romances and instrumental compositions depicting in a dramatic way scenes from Russian people's life.
