Obverse

in the centre – the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it – the semicircular inscription «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim – on top: «ДВА РУБЛЯ» (TWO RUBLES), below: to the left – indications of the precious metal and its fineness, in the centre - the year of issue «2007 г.» (2007), to the right – the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.

Reverse

in the centre – the portrait of V.M. Bekhterev, above to the right – the dates in two lines «1857» and «1927», lower – a fragment of a manuscript with the image of the human cerebrum and facsimile signature of the scientist.

Vladimir Mikhailovich Bekhterev (1857-1927) – Russian neurologist, psychiatrist and psychologist, founder of scientific school, organizer and head of the Saint Petersburg Psycho-Neurological Research Institute (1908; now bearing his name), and the Institute of Cerebrum and Psychical Action Research (1918). He created fundamental research works on anatomy, physiology and pathology of nervous system.
