Bank of Russia issues bullion coins of precious metals

On August 30, 2018 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues bullion coins of precious metals „Saint George the Victorious”:

  • a silver uncirculated coin in denomination of 3 Rubles (catalogue number 5111-0178, mintage up to 300,000 pcs);
  • a gold uncirculated coin in denomination of 50 Rubles (catalogue number 5216-0060, mintage up to 150,000 pcs).

Description of the coins:

A silver uncirculated coin in denomination of 3 Rubles (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 999, diameter 39.0 mm) and a gold uncirculated coin in denomination of 50 Rubles (fine metal content 7.78 g, fineness 999, diameter 22.6 mm) have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coins bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: „РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) and „БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denominations of the coins „3 РУБЛЯ” (3 RUBLES), „50 РУБЛЕЙ” (50 RUBLES) and the year „2018”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, the mint trade mark and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of the coins depicts a relief image of Saint George the Victorious on a horseback spearing a dragon.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
