Obverse
in the center — the Emblem of the Bank of Russia (the two headed eagle designed by I.Bilibin, lower — the semicircular inscription — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA) framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top — «ТРИ РУБЛЯ» (THREE RUBLES), at the bottom — «1999», the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right — the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
the picture of Mardjany Mosque in Kazan, the inscription above it: «КАЗАНЬ» (KAZAN) and the date «XVIII в.» (the XVIIIth century). The inscription at the top along the rim: «МЕЧЕТЬ «МАРДЖАНИ» (THE MOSQUE «MARDJANY»).

The mosque «Mardjany» — is the architectural and historical monument of the Tartar people. It was built in 1766-1770 with personal permission given by Catherine II on subscription of 62 parishioners. Shigabutdin Mardjany, the outstanding enlightener and scientist, was the spiritual preceptor of the parish from 1850 to 1889. Sh.Mardjany had wide contacts to Russian scientists and enlighteners.
