Obverse
in the centre – the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it – the semicircular inscription «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim – on top: «ТРИ РУБЛЯ» (THREE RUBLES), below: to the left – indications of the precious metal and its fineness, in the centre – the year of issue «2007 г.» (2007), to the right – the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
in the foreground – the sculptural composition with the image of Minerva – the patroness of arts and workmanships – which decorates the cupola of the building of the Academy of Arts. To the right – the inscription in two lines: «ОCНОВАНА В 1757 г.» (FOUNDED IN 1757), in the background – the main building of the Academy of Arts; on top – the inscription along the rim: «РОССИЙСКАЯ АКАДЕМИЯ ИСКУССТВ» (THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS).

The Academy of Arts – the highest establishment in the field of the plastic arts – was founded under the Decree of the Senate from November 6, 1757. In the XVIIIth – early XIXth centuries, it played remarkable role for education of Russian national artistic personnel, became the centre of the artistic life in Russia. Thanks to activity of I.E. Repin, A.I. Kuinjy, P.P. Chistyakov and other artistic pedagogues it retained the significance of a school of high professional skill. In 1992, it was transformed into the Russian Academy of Arts.
