On meeting of Interbank Currency Council of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus
On 17 December 2014, the 41st meeting of the Interbank Currency Council of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus discussed the topical issues of bilateral cooperation. The meeting was attended by Mikhail I. Sukhov, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia, Sergey M. Ignatiev, Adviser to the Governor of the Bank of Russia, Sergey V. Kalechits, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, and representatives of the central banks of both countries.
The parties exchanged information on the current economic situation and the implementation of the monetary policy in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, on the international reserve dynamics and foreign exchange liquidity in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus based on the definitions applied under the IMF Special Data Dissemination Standard, and the views on mutual trade settlements in national currencies and the development of national payment card systems in Russia and Belarus.
As a result of the meeting, an Agreement on cooperation between the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus on joint payment system supervision (surveillance) was prepared for signature.
