Individuals’ transfers between their own accounts soar: SBP results in 2025 Q1
Households have been actively using the Faster Payments System (SBP) to make fee-free transfers between their accounts with different banks. According to the Bank of Russia’s data, such transactions account for 40% of the total number of money transfers made via the SBP in 2025 Q1.
Overall, individuals conducted more than four billion transactions worth over ₽22.6 trillion via the SBP in January—March 2025. Thus, their number increased by a factor of 1.6 and their total value more than doubled year on year. Person-to-person transfers through the SBP are made by 7 out of 10 Russians and purchases via the system – by 5 out of 10.
The SBP loyalty programme has also been contributing to the system’s popularity. Under this programme, cashback is credited to an individual’s account immediately after a purchase is made via the SBP. Households received around ₽500 million in cashback over 2025 Q1 alone and a total of ₽4 billion over the past year.
