Winners of financial literacy competition among schoolchildren to visit Artek
The Bank of Russia invites schoolchildren aged between 13 and 17 to participate in the financial literacy competition. Winners will be awarded travel vouchers to the Artek International Children's Centre where they will take part in the Investing in Knowledge programme arranged by the Bank of Russia.
To participate in the competition, schoolchildren are requested to prepare projects on a new subject, i.e. cybersecurity for the elderly. The projects should help the aged to identify and counter cyberfraudsters. The best projects will be discussed during winners’ stay at Artek.
‘Anyone can fall victim to scammers but elderly people are especially vulnerable. Youngsters usually have a better sense of finance and modern technologies than the aged. I am sure that schoolchildren will come up with interesting ideas on how to teach financial cybersecurity to their grandparents,’ noted Mikhail Mamuta, Head of the Service for Consumer Protection and Financial Inclusion of the Bank of Russia.
While staying at Artek, students will be taught the basics of investment and entrepreneurship, personal and family budgeting, and how to stay scam safe. Children will also learn what a dropper does and what rules they should follow to avoid getting involved in financial crimes.
Applications for the competition will be accepted from 1 through 15 April, projects – from 21 April through 20 May. Winners will be determined on 30 June in the Financial Education community in the VKontakte social network.
