Fee-free period for digital ruble transactions extended
The Bank of Russia has decided to extend the fee-free period for digital ruble transactions for one year through 31 December 2025. During this period, companies will not pay any fee on such transactions. This will enable businesses to reduce their expenditures on preparations for the full-scale introduction of the digital ruble that is planned for the middle of 2025 and during the first several months of its wide use.
It should be stressed that any transactions with the national digital currency will always be fee-free for individuals.
From 1 January 2026, the fee for businesses accepting payments for goods and services in digital rubles will be 0.3% of the payment amount (but no more than ₽1,500). The fee for housing and utility companies will be even lower, namely 0.2% but no more than ₽10. The fee on business-to-business transfers will equal ₽15 per transaction.
Furthermore, any user will be able to open or close an account on the Digital Ruble Platform free of charge.
