Annual inflation grows in most regions
Annual inflation across Russia was up by 0.46 pp as compared with April, amounting to 8.3%. Price growth sped up in 71 Russian regions. Inflation accelerated most significantly in the North Caucasian Federal District and slightly slowed down in the Urals.
Prices for food products, fruit and vegetables in particular, increased most notably. Prices for non-food goods were rising not so fast. The above was mainly due to the deceleration in the rise in prices for petroleum products (in 2023, such prices surged during the same period, which resulted in the effect of last year’s high base). As to services prices, the most notable increase was recorded in passenger transportation.
More details on inflation in each Russian region are available in the information and analytical materials published on the Bank of Russia website.
