Suspicious transactions in banking sector decrease by 9% in 2023 H1
Illegal capital outflow amounted to 12 billion rubles, staying at its historical low of January—June 2022.
Cash-outs in the banking sector decreased by 5% to 32 billion rubles. Suspicious cash withdrawals from the accounts of legal entities were more than halved due to the fact that information about high-risk clients was promptly communicated by the regulator to credit institutions through the Know Your Customer platform. Cash withdrawals by means of writs of execution also fell by half compared to the first six months of 2022, primarily due to legislative changes allowing banks to stop operations under writs of execution if there is suspicion that their purpose is money laundering.
Cash-outs outside the banking sector declined to 10 billion rubles; they amounted to 14 billion rubles in the same period last year.
