Most regions report higher inflation in June
The key reason is that consumer demand is rising while manufacturing and imports of some products are still limited. On top of growing demand, prices were pushed up by increases in producer costs prompted by the earlier ruble weakening, among other factors.
Growth in prices for food and non-food products accelerated in all federal districts. In many regions, prices for meat products were rising more quickly amid the outbreak of bird flu and higher feed costs. Motor fuel prices were increasing at a faster pace ahead of amendments to the parameters of payments to oil refiners within the dampening mechanism. Growth in car prices accelerated, fueled by a weaker ruble and a limited supply of new cars.
The growth rate of prices for tourism services and passenger transportation remained high. However, nearly 50% of the regions recorded a slower growth in services prices. The main contributors were prices for railway tickets and travel packages.
