Balance of Bank of Russia transactions involving supply/withdrawal
Data as of the beginning of the day on the balance of Bank of Russia transactions with the banking sector (hereinafter referred to as the balance of transactions) involving the supply/withdrawal of ruble liquidity conducted in the previous days with maturities or the settlement date on the current day. This indicator does not take into account Bank of Russia transactions with the banking sector involving the supply/withdrawal of liquidity to be conducted during the day with maturities or the settlement date on the same day.
The balance of transactions is calculated as a net worth between Bank of Russia liabilities to the banking sector and Bank of Russia claims on the banking sector with maturities or the settlement date on the current day.
The Bank of Russia liabilities to the banking sector are interpreted as an amount of funds to be paid back by the Bank of Russia to credit institutions on the current day on deposit operations and through the redemption of outstanding Bank of Russia bonds net of the amount of funds attracted by the Bank of Russia on deposit operations and through the Bank of Russia bonds allotment conducted in the previous days with the settlement date on the current day.
Bank of Russia claims on the banking sector are interpreted as an amount of funds to be paid back by credit institutions to the Bank of Russia on the current day on repo and currency swap operations and through the redemption of loans net of funds provided by the Bank of Russia through repo, currency swap operations and loans conducted in the previous days with the settlement date on the current day.
In addition, the balance of transactions includes the value of Bank of Russia operations with credit institutions on purchase/sale of foreign exchange during the previous business day on a tom-next basis.
“Minus” in the balance of transactions means the withdrawal of funds by the Bank of Russia, while “plus” denotes the supply of liquidity to the banking sector.
