Data on the Bank of Russia currency interventions (monthly)
The determination of the target (regular) interventions’ amounts is based on the balance of payments estimation and the dynamics of energy carrier prices on the global markets. Target purchases and sales of foreign currency are implemented by the Bank of Russia for the purpose of neutralization of the market participants’ steady ruble exchange rate expectations affected by the external economic conjuncture. Currency interventions implemented by the Bank of Russia above the determined target amounts are aimed to decrease ruble exchange rate fluctuations that are not caused by the fundamental economic factors.
