Scheduled issue of Bank of Russia’s upgraded banknotes

In 2021–2025, the Bank of Russia will continue the scheduled upgrade of the Bank of Russia’s banknotes. The upgrade involves the improvement of the security complex and the renewal of the designs of 10-, 50-, 100-, 500-, 1,000-, and 5,000-ruble banknotes.

The design of the Bank of Russia’s upgraded banknotes will comprise the sights of Russian federal districts, thus showing the specifics of their territories, history, and modern achievements:

The Bank of Russia is going to issue upgraded banknotes into circulation during the period of 2022–2025.

Information on the dates of issuing each banknote denomination and their description will be timely published on the Bank of Russia website (www.cbr.ru).

The Bank of Russia’s 1997-style banknotes, including all their subsequent modifications, remain legal tender of the Russian Federation and are mandatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
