On issuing of commemorative coins of precious metals

On July 5, 2017 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins of precious metal:

  • A silver proof coin in denomination of 2 Roubles - “Painter I.K. Aivazovsky, the 200th Anniversary of the Birth (29.07.1817)” (catalogue number 5110-0150) of the series “Outstanding Personalities of Russia”;
  • A silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles - “Queen Louise” Bridge”, Sovetsk, Kaliningrad Region” (catalogue number 5111-0362) of the series “Architectural Monuments of Russia”;
  • A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles - “Tauric Chersonesos” (catalogue number 5115-0133);
  • A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles - “Vincenzo Brenna” (catalogue number 5115-0134) of the series “Architectural Masterpieces of Russia”.

Description of the coins of precious metal:

A silver proof coin in denomination of 2 Roubles (fine metal content 15.55 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 33.0 mm, mintage 3000 pcs) has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin - “2 РУБЛЯ” (2 ROUBLES) and the year - “2017”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of the coin depicts a relief image of I.K. Aivazovsky against a background of a part of “The Ninth Wave” painting. There is an inscription “И.К.АЙВАЗОВСКИЙ” (I.K.AIVAZOVSKY) along the circumference on top and the dates “1817”, “1900” in two lines at the bottom.

A silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 39.0 mm, mintage 3000 pcs) has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin - “3 РУБЛЯ” (3 ROUBLES) and the year - “2017”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of the coin depicts a relief image of the “Queen Louise” bridge in Sovetsk, Kaliningrad region. There are inscriptions: “МОСТ “КОРОЛЕВА ЛУИЗА” (“QUEEN LOUISE” BRIDGE) along the circumference at the bottom, “г. СОВЕТСК.” (SOVETSK) on the right.

A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles (fine metal content 155.5 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 60.0 mm, mintage 1000 pcs) “Tauric Chersonesos” has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin - “25 РУБЛЕЙ” (25 ROUBLES) and the year - “2017”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of the coin depicts a relief image of the “Tauric Chersonesos” State historical and archaeological museum and reserve. There is an inscription “ХЕРСОНЕС ТАВРИЧЕСКИЙ” (TAURIC CHERSONESOS) along the circumference on top.

A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles (fine metal content 155.5 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 60.0 mm, mintage 1000 pcs) “Vincenzo Brenna” has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin - “25 РУБЛЕЙ” (25 ROUBLES) and the year - “2017”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of the coin depicts relief images of a portrait of the architect Vincenzo Brenna and Mikhailovsky Palace in Saint Petersburg, an image of a capital performed in colour on the right. There is an inscription “ВИНЧЕНЦО БРЕННА” (VINCENZO BRENNA) under the portrait.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
