News

In 2025, retail investors were increasingly active in the bond market, whose returns were almost the highest as of the end of the year. Individuals bought federal government bonds (OFZ) and corporate bonds worth a record of ₽490 billion and ₽1.26 trillion, respectively (vs ₽196 billion and ₽551 billion in 2024).

Alongside bonds, other fast-growing assets last year were gold, ruble deposits, and money market funds. The lowest returns were produced by foreign currency deposits and cryptocurrencies.

In 2025, retail investors were also the major buyers of shares in the secondary market, with their net purchases totalling ₽142 billion.

Meanwhile, households bought approximately the same amount of foreign currency as last year, i.e. ₽1.12 trillion.

More details are available in the new issue of the Financial Market Risks Review.
