Bank of Russia presents guidelines for cash circulation development in 2026–2030
Priorities for the next five years include expanding the practice of placing Bank of Russia cash reserves in bank vaults, maintaining the high quality of banknotes in circulation, transitioning to domestic equipment and technological solutions, and automating customer service operations.
Despite the variety of payment instruments, people continue to use cash. The Bank of Russia’s main task in this area is to ensure the availability of cash for individuals and businesses.
The implementation of the planned measures will enable the cash circulation system to operate smoothly and sustainably and protect it from risks and external challenges.
The Guidelines for Cash Circulation Development in 2026–2030 remain consistent with previously approved documents. During their development, the regulator took into consideration proposals from market participants, namely credit institutions, providers of cash-in-transit services, associations, trade and service companies, as well as equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
