Sergey Ignatiev

Born on 10 January 1948 in Leningrad.


1975: graduated from the Department of Economics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

1978: completed postgraduate studies at the Department of Economics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Candidate of Economic Sciences; Associate Professor.


He was awarded the Certificate of Honour of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

1967–1969: compulsory service in the Armed Forces.

1969–1970: Service Technician at Gidroelektromontazh Enterprise, Leningrad.

1970–1978: student, postgraduate student at the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

1978–1988: Assistant Lecturer, Senior Lecturer at the F. Engels Leningrad Institute of Soviet Trade, Leningrad.

1988–1991: Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor at the N.A. Voznesensky Leningrad Institute of Economics and Finance, Leningrad.

1991–1992: Deputy Minister of Economics and Finance of the Russian Federation.

1992: Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russia Federation.

1992–1993: Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia.

1993–1996: Deputy Minister of Economics of the Russian Federation.

1996–1997: Aide on Economic Issues to the President of Russia.

1997–2002: First Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation.

2002–2013: Governor of the Bank of Russia.

Since March 2013: Advisor to the Governor of the Bank of Russia.
