Bank of Russia issues commemorative coins of base metals

On 2 December 2019, the Bank of Russia will issue commemorative coins of base metals in the denomination of 25 rubles of the Weapons of the Great Victory series (Weapons Designers):

— Weapons Designer Vasiliy Grabin,

— Weapons Designer Josef Kotin,

— Weapons Designer Mikhail Koshkin,

— Weapons Designer Boris Malinin,

— Weapons Designer Vladimir Petlyakov,

— Weapons Designer Fyodor Petrov,

— Weapons Designer Nikolai Polikarpov,

— Weapons Designer Sergei Simonov,

— Weapons Designer Georgy Shpagin.

The coins have a round shape and are 27.0 mm in diameter.

The obverse and reverse sides of the coins have a relief rim along the circumference.

The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The obverse of the coins features a relief image of the national emblem of the Russian Federation, the inscription above it along the upper circumference ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) framed with paired diamonds on both sides, the Moscow Mint trademark on the right, and the three-line inscription in the centre of the coins under the national emblem ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the coin denomination ‘25 РУБЛЕЙ’ (25 RUBLES), the year of issue ‘2019 г.’ (2019).

ГРАБИН’ (VASILIY GRABIN) at the bottom.

— of the coin ‘Weapons Designer Josef Kotin’ (Catalogue No. 5015-0034) bears a relief image of the IS-2 heavy tank and the inscription ‘ИС-2’ (IS-2) on the left; along the circumference there are the inscriptions ‘ОРУЖИЕ ВЕЛИКОЙ ПОБЕДЫ’ (WEAPONS OF THE GREAT VICTORY) at the top and ‘Ж.Я. КОТИН’ (JOSEF KOTIN) at the bottom.

КОШКИН’ (MIKHAIL KOSHKIN) at the bottom.

— of the coin ‘Weapons Designer Nikolai Polikarpov’ (Catalogue No. 5015-0039) bears a relief image of the U-2 (Po-2) utility biplane and the inscription ‘У-2 (ПО-2)’ (U-2 (PO-2)) underneath; along the circumference there are the inscriptions ‘ОРУЖИЕ ВЕЛИКОЙ ПОБЕДЫ’ (WEAPONS OF THE GREAT VICTORY) at the top and ‘Н.Н. ПОЛИКАРПОВ’ (NIKOLAI POLIKARPOV) at the bottom.

— of the coin ‘Weapons Designer Sergei Simonov’ (Catalogue No. 5015-0040) bears a relief image of the Simonov anti-tank rifle and the inscription ‘ПТРС ОБРАЗЦА 1941 г.’ (PTRS-41) underneath on the left; along the circumference there are the inscriptions ‘ОРУЖИЕ ВЕЛИКОЙ ПОБЕДЫ’ (WEAPONS OF THE GREAT VICTORY) at the top and ‘С.Г. СИМОНОВ’ (SERGEI SIMONOV) at the bottom.

— of the coin ‘Weapons Designer Georgy Shpagin’ (Catalogue No. 5015-0041) bears a relief image of the Shpagin submachine gun and the inscription ‘ППШ-41’ (PPSh-41) on the left; along the circumference there are the inscriptions ‘ОРУЖИЕ ВЕЛИКОЙ ПОБЕДЫ’ (WEAPONS OF THE GREAT VICTORY) at the top and ‘Г.С. ШПАГИН’ (GEORGY SHPAGIN) at the bottom.

The mintage of each coin is 1 million pcs.

The new coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation and it is mandatory that they be accepted for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
