On issuing of commemorative coins of precious and base metals

On June 4, 2018 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins of:

Precious metals:

  • Silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles “Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, Vyritsa village” (catalogue number 5111-0383, mintage 3000 pcs) of the series “Architectural Monuments of Russia”.
  • Silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles “The 400th Anniversary of the Foundation of Novokuznetsk” (catalogue number 5111-0384, mintage 2000 pcs).

Base metals:

  • Base metal coin in denomination of 25 Roubles “The International Army Games” (catalogue number 5015-0024, mintage 500000 pcs).
  • Base metal coin in denomination of 10 Roubles “Gorokhovets, Vladimir Region (founded in 1168)” of the series “Ancient Towns of Russia” (catalogue number 5714-0060, mintage 5000000 pcs).

Description of the coins of precious metal:

Silver proof coins in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1000, and diameter 39.0 mm) have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coins bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin — “3 РУБЛЯ” (3 ROUBLES) and the year — “2018”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side:

  • of the coin “Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, Vyritsa village” depicts relief images of the church and the chapel -in the center, trees-on the right and left. There is an inscription “ВЫРИЦА” (“VYRITSA”) under the image and “ЦЕРКОВЬ КАЗАНСКОЙ ИКОНЫ БОЖЬЕЙ МАТЕРИ” (“CHURCH OF THE KAZAN ICON OF THE MOTHER OF GOD”) along the circumference at the bottom.
  • of the coin “The 400th Anniversary of the Foundation of Novokuznetsk” depicts a relief image of Barnaul gates of the Kuznetsk Fortress in Novokuznetsk against the background of the panoramic view of the Mayakovsky square with the monument to the poet. There are inscriptions along the circumference “НОВОКУЗНЕЦК” (“NOVOKUZNETSK”) at the top and “осн. в 1618 г.” (founded in 1618) in the center.

Description of the coins of base metal:

A base metals coin in denomination of 25 Roubles is white in colour (diameter 27.0 mm), has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coins bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, a semicircular inscription- “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) above it. There are inscriptions in three-lines: “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin- “25 РУБЛЕЙ” (25 RUBLES) and the year- “2018”, trade mark of the mint on the right.

The reverse side:

  • of the coin “The International Army Games” depicts relief images of an aircraft, a warship and a tank and the emblem of the International Army Games — on the left. There is an inscription along the circumference on the rim: “АРМЕЙСКИЕ МЕЖДУНАРОДНЫЕ ИГРЫ” (“INTERNATIONAL ARMY GAMES”).

Coin of the series “Ancient Towns of Russia” is 27.0 mm in diameter, combined, consist of two parts: a disc made of white metal and an outer ring around the disc made of yellow metal. Coin has the rim raised on both sides along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated and has an inscription “ДЕСЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ” (TEN ROUBLES) recurring twice and divided by asterisks.

The obverse side of the coin has inscriptions along the circumference: “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA) at the top, “2018” at the bottom. On the left and on the right sides of the outer ring of the coin there are stylized images of laurel and oak branches respectively, going over to the disc. In the center of the disc there is an indication of the face value of the coin “10 РУБЛЕЙ” (10 ROUBLES) in two lines. Inside the figure “0” there is a protective element in the form of the figure “10” and an inscription “РУБ” (RUB) visible when changing angles of vision. In the lower part of the disc there is a trademark of a mint.

The reverse side:

  • of the coin depicts a relief image of the panoramic view of Gorokhovets. There are: the emblem of the town-on the right, the inscriptions along the circumference: ‘ДРЕВНИЕ ГОРОДА РОССИИ’ (ANCIENT TOWNS OF RUSSIA) at the top, ‘ГОРОХОВЕЦ’ (GOROKHOVETS) at the bottom.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
