News

On 5 March 2019, the Bank of Russia issues three silver proof coins in denomination of 2 rubles of the Red Data Book series dedicated to the most endangered animals.

The coins bear the images of Amur leopard (a feline carnivore inhabiting the Far East, at the border of three countries: Russia, China and North Korea), Japanese crested ibis (a bird in the ibis family, last seen in the Russian Far East in 1990), and beluga (one of the largest freshwater fish in the sturgeon family inhabiting the Caspian, Azov, and Black Seas). The mintage of each coin is 5 thousand pcs.

The Red Data Book series has been issued since 1992.
