Bank of Russia issues commemorative coins dedicated to Kaluga and the Komi Republic

On 14 July, the Bank of Russia issues the following commemorative silver coins:

— in the denomination of 3 rubles ‘The 100^th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Komi Republic’;

— in the denomination of 3 rubles ‘The 650^th Anniversary of the Foundation of the City of Kaluga’ of the Cities series.

The silver 3-ruble coins (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1,000) have a round shape and are 39.0 mm in diameter.

The obverse and the reverse of the coins have a relief rim along the circumference.

The obverse of the coins features a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and the inscriptions ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) and ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the coin denomination ‘3 РУБЛЯ’ (3 RUBLES), the year of issue ‘2021 г.’ (2021), the chemical symbol of the metal according to Mendeleev’s Periodic Table of Elements, fineness, the St. Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.

The reverse:

— of the coin ‘The 100^th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Komi Republic’ (Catalogue No. 5111-0446) features a relief image of the prose epics warrior Pera standing near a young pine tree on the left; several relief images of the building of the Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University, of the labour glory monument of the Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, and of the Manpupuner rock formations, laser treated for matte finishing — on the right; the emblem of the Komi Republic at the top; there are inscriptions: ‘100 ЛЕТ’ (100 YEARS) in two lines on the right, and ‘РЕСПУБЛИКА КОМИ’ (KOMI REPUBLIC) at the bottom along the circumference framed by elements of the national ornament.

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof quality.

The mintage of the coin is 3.0 thousand pcs;

— of the coin ‘The 650^th Anniversary of the Foundation of the City of Kaluga’ (Catalogue No. 5111-0447) features a relief image of the building of the Konstantin Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics against the background of the images of the panorama of Kaluga and the starry sky, laser treated for matte finishing; there are inscriptions: ‘КАЛУГА’ (KALUGA) at the top along the circumference and ‘650 ЛЕТ’ (650 YEARS) at the bottom.

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof quality.

The mintage of the coin is 3.0 thousand pcs.

The new coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation and are mandatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
